In this 60 minute talk, Martin uses photographs from many American collections to examine the emergence of the New World’s distinctive voice in visual art. He examines how artists depicted the vastness of the continent and the westward expansion, focusing on the the work of Cole and Moran, the Luminists and the American Impressionists.
